The Acura Legend, which is famous as Honda Legend in many countries outside the Canada, China and USA, was one of the initial model cars from the Japanese manufacturer. It was sold from the years 1986 to 1995 as the buyer's choice car due to its sporty look and luxury condition. Soon the car was replaced by its follower the Acura CL model in 1996.
The first generation Acura Legend was manufactured and produced for five years from 1986 to 1990 with the KA3 chassis. The two models- sedan and coupe had 2.5L and 2.7L capacity with the C25A and C27a v6 engines respectively. The transmission speed was about 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual system. For sedan, the wheel base was about 108.7 inches and that of the coupe was about 106.5 inches. The length of the vehicle was 189.4 inches for the sedan and that of coupe was 188 inches. However, in the 1989-90 models, the coupe was lengthened a bit, stretching it to about 190.6 inches. The width of the sedan model was increased from 68.3 inches to 68.9 inches to make it more spacious in 1989. The coupe width was 68.7 inches. The height of the sedan and coupe was about 54.7 inches and 53.9 inches respectively.
7 Inch Car Monitor
The initial sedan Legend had performance of 151 hp but in coupe, it was a bit more with the 161hp engine. Due to the speed and high performance the Acura Legend was awarded with the "Import car of the Year 1987". It had also achieved the three best years in a row as cars and drivers. Considering the technical aspect, the Acura Legend was not behind among its competitors with the 24 valve engine, 4 wheel disc brakes, driver airbag, economical fuel efficiency, double suspension system and in terms of the fluid levels. The Bose sound system, vehicle monitoring and computer trip were other notable features of the model.
The second generation Legend model hit the market in 1991 and continued till 1995. the 6- speed manual transmission, KA7 chassis, 200hp v6 engine, larger space, streamlined looking, hand free telephone system, leather and advanced front seats, automation in climate control system, 4-wheel anti lock and ABS disc brake and seat-belt for passengers were some of the notable and advanced features of the second generation Acura Legend models. The latest model of Legend as both in L and LS in 1993 was producing the top speed about 262 km/hr, front bumpers and grille and revised lids of trunk were liked most by the young mass of buyers.
